Most Memorable Moments Against The Oilers
After the Canadiens played their first game against the Oilers on December 14, 1979 in Edmonton, falling 5-3, they play host to the new Canadian team at the Forum on January 7, 1980. This marks a young Wayne Grtezky’s first visit to the Forum, where he’ll be shutout by Montreal goalie Denis Herron. Steve Shutt gets the best of Oilers’ netminder Jim Corsi twice as well as notching an assist on Pierre Larouche’s winning goal. Guy Lafleur also skates off with three points that night, in a 4-3 win for the Habs.
