Most Memorable Moments Against The Rangers
Four in a row
On May 21, 1979, the only thing standing between the Habs and their fourth consecutive Stanley Cup was a New York Rangers squad set on spoiling their party. But as was the case for the three previous years, Scotty Bowman’s squad would prove unstoppable, downing the Rangers 4-1 to take the series in five games, after dropping only the first. Bob Gainey went on earn the Conn Smythe Trophy for the Canadiens as playoff MVP.
