Following a tough season marked by a handful of key injuries, staying healthy will be central to securing a 23rd-consecutive NHL Playoff berth for the Red Wings in 2014-15. For once, it was the team’s young stars who laid the groundwork for the Wings’ postseason push this past spring, as veterans Pavel Datsyuk and Henrik Zetterberg both spent half the season battling the injury bug. Head coach Mike Babcock will once again count on the likes of Gustav Nyquist, Riley Sheahan, and Tomas Tatar this season, and for GM Ken Holland to offer the team’s scoring leader, Daniel Alfredsson, a new contract once the veteran Swede passes his medicals at camp.
